Wow! This is a great piece. Now I know where I can get fresh apple fritters. Hope he’s training someone to love his work as much as he and the community do.

Great story and effects. I grew up in Chicago, so thank you for the trip back down. The donuts look world-class. I can almost taste the apple fritters.

What a great short film! Thank you beautifully capturing such a fixture of the Roseland and Black community. My dad also migrated to Chicago from Mississippi. So the Donut King has a special place in my heart!

Just watched it again. I really enjoy you letting Mr. Bulloch tell his story in his own words. The combination of title cards, the gentle prompting you must have done between takes, and the careful editing of what I’m sure were much longer stories helps to guide the narrative. I swear I can hear and smell the doughnuts sizzling and crisping in the oil.
